Advancements in technologies have streamlined the process of getting dental crowns. Although it can be difficult to embrace new techniques, here are a few benefits you’ll enjoy when choosing same-day crowns instead of lab-made restorations.

Streamlined Process

The process of getting a traditional dental crown takes a couple of appointments. After your tooth has been prepared, your dentist will make an impression of your mouth using a messy material. The impression would be sent off to the dental lab for fabrication. Your dentist must place a temporary restoration over your tooth to protect it while you wait. In a couple of weeks, your crown is sent back to the dental office to be bonded in place.

In-office dental crowns provide a different experience. After your tooth has been prepped, your dentist takes a digital scan of your mouth to create an impression. The image works with CAD/CAM software to design your crown. The information is then sent to an in-office milling machine, where your crown will be ready in about 1 hour.

Unmatched Precision

The traditional impression process offers some room for error. The slightest movements when taking an impression or errors in the dental lab can cause a crown to fit incorrectly.

There’s virtually no risk of a poor fit when choosing in-office crowns. The milling machine cuts your crown with the utmost precision and accuracy to ensure your restoration fits like a glove.

Exceptional Durability

Although you’ll receive the restoration you need in a single appointment, you don’t have to worry about low quality. It will be equally durable as those created in a laboratory. Your new restoration can last for a decade or longer with the correct care, like brushing and flossing.

Affordability

The traditional method of receiving a restoration can get costly because it requires multiple appointments. Not only will you have to pay the appointment fees, but also take time off of work and spend gas getting to and from your dentist’s office.

Same-day dental crowns allow you to save time and money. Your dental insurance can also be used to reduce some of the expenses to lower the amount you will pay out-of-pocket. Not to mention you can’t put a price on the benefits you’ll gain when investing in the convenience of same-day dental crowns.

Don’t rely on outdated methods to protect a compromised tooth. Choose the proven and precise results of same-day dental crowns.
