Types of Dentures
Our practice is proud to offer more than one kind of denture. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages to consider, and we’ll make sure that you have all the information you need to make the right choice for your smile. Here are the basics regarding the different types of dentures.
Partial Dentures
A partial denture is personalized to fit into the gaps in your smile like a puzzle piece. It will have a base made out of gum-colored acrylic as well as an appropriate number of beautiful artificial teeth. The prosthesis will be anchored in place thanks to metal clasps.
Full Dentures
A full denture is the traditional way to replace all of the teeth in a single row. Unlike partial dentures, full dentures sit directly on the gums; natural suction is used to help them stay in place.
Implant Dentures
Anchoring dentures to dental implants can enhance their chewing power and prevent them from slipping when you don’t want them to. About four to eight implant posts are typically needed to support a full denture. Said posts will be surgically inserted into the jaw so that they can act as artificial tooth roots.
The Benefits of Dentures
There are plenty of advantages to replacing your missing teeth with dentures. For one thing, you’ll be able to eat a wider variety of foods. On top of that, it will be easier to speak clearly. The prosthesis itself will generally be very easy to take care of, and you can expect it to last for quite a while (often around 7 to 10 years) with the right maintenance.
